Massachusetts Day – Exploring the Bay State with Your Canine Companion

Massachusetts, with its rich history and diverse landscapes, offers a plethora of dog-friendly adventures. From scenic beaches to lush hiking trails and welcoming eateries, the Bay State is a haven for dog lovers and their furry friends.

Dog-Friendly Beaches in Massachusetts

Herring Cove Beach – Provincetown
Located on the Massachusetts Bay side of Provincetown, Herring Cove Beach offers miles of dog-friendly shoreline. Leashed dogs are welcome, but note that seasonal pet closures are in effect annually from April 1 through October 15 to protect nesting shorebirds. 

Good Harbor Beach – Gloucester
This picturesque beach allows dogs during the off-season from October 1 to March 31. During these months, dogs can play both on or off-leash in the surf and on the sand. 

Plum Island Point Beach – Newburyport
Plum Island Point Beach welcomes dogs off-leash from October 15 to May 15. The off-leash section is by the lighthouse and Captain's Lady. Dogs are not permitted on the beach from May 15 through October 15. 

Dog-Friendly Hiking Trails in Massachusetts

Borderland State Park – Easton
This pet-friendly park offers over 20 miles of hiking trails to explore, along with ponds that water-loving canines will enjoy. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park. 

Maudslay State Park – Newburyport
A beautiful area perfect for exploring with Fido, Maudslay State Park is home to 19th-century gardens, rolling meadows, and towering pines. Leashed dogs can enjoy the trails and the stunning array of colors when the plants are in bloom. 

Great Brook Farm State Park – Carlisle
Leashed dogs can join their humans in exploring the 20 miles of trails together. The park also features a working dairy farm, complete with resident farm animals.

Dog-Friendly Dining in Massachusetts

Rapscallion Table and Tap – Acton
This dog-friendly eatery welcomes Fido at a table on the quaint back patio. They even have a dog menu for your pup to enjoy! Rapscallion brews all their own craft beer to complement a delicious menu that includes poutine, lobster grilled cheese, and more. 

Chill Kitchen & Bar – Marlborough
Chill Kitchen & Bar offers a spacious covered patio where dogs are welcome. The menu includes classic American fare such as crab cakes, Maine lobster BLTs, and Margherita pizza, plus an extensive cocktail and wine list. 

State Street Provisions – Boston
Located in Boston, State Street Provisions is a dog-friendly, contemporary restaurant with rustic charm. Dog owners can enjoy a meal at one of the outdoor tables, with a menu that includes brunch items, pizzas, seafood, and more.
