Delaware, known as the First State, offers a delightful mix of coastal charm, scenic trails, and historic towns. For dog lovers, it's a hidden gem filled with tail-wagging adventures waiting to be explored.

Dog-Friendly Beaches in Delaware

Dewey Beach
Dewey Beach is renowned for its dog-friendly policies. During the off-season (mid-September to mid-May), dogs are allowed on the beach all day. In the summer months, dogs can enjoy the beach before 9:30 AM and after 5:30 PM. A Dewey Beach dog license is required, which can be obtained online or at Town Hall. 

Cape Henlopen State Park
Located in Lewes, this park offers designated pet-friendly areas where leashed dogs can enjoy the beach year-round. The park also features trails like the Dune Overlook Trail, providing scenic views and a pleasant hiking experience for you and your pup. 

Broadkill Beach
Situated in Milton, Broadkill Beach welcomes leashed dogs from October 1st to April 30th. It's a serene spot where you and your furry friend can enjoy the Delaware Bay's calm waters. 

Dog-Friendly Hiking Trails

White Clay Creek State Park
In Newark, this park boasts over 37 miles of trails. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the Chestnut Hill Trail is a popular choice, leading hikers through forested areas and open meadows. 

Lums Pond State Park
Located in Bear, this park offers the Swamp Forest Trail, a scenic path through wetland forests. There's also a designated dog park where your pup can play off-leash. 

Killens Pond State Park
In Felton, this park features the 2.6-mile Pondside Trail, perfect for a leisurely walk with your leashed dog. The adjacent pond also offers opportunities for kayaking and canoeing.

Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats
Located in Rehoboth Beach, this brewery and eatery welcomes dogs at their outdoor tables. Enjoy craft beers and a diverse menu while your pup relaxes by your side. 

Crooked Hammock Brewery
With locations in Lewes and Middletown, this laid-back brewery offers dog-friendly outdoor seating. It's a great spot to unwind with a cold brew after a day of adventures. 

Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen
In Newark, this gastropub features a climate-controlled patio where dogs are welcome year-round. Their menu includes a variety of dishes, from pork sliders to crab-stuffed shrimp.
